Monthly Retail Sales Figures

Are you curious to see how the economic slump is affecting retail sales?  Using the Census Bureau’s Monthly Retail Trade Series you can do just that.  Retail numbers are released monthly and are then compiled annually in the Annual Retail Sales Survey.

For example, when you compare national jewelry store sales during the past two holiday seasons, you’ll find that sales dropped from $6.5 million in December 2007 to $5.3 million in December 2008.
